-It is important to keep the new lawn moist but not flooded
-It should be watered as evenly as possible two times a day
-A plastic compression sprinkler is ideal for watering because it is lightweight and the watering distance is based off water pressure from the spigot. Digital timers are great for temporary sprinklers and are relatively affordable.
-Try to stay off of the newly seeded area to prevent bare areas by disturbing the seeds from germinating.
-New grass will start sprouting in 14-28 days
-Continue regular watering during this time
-Once the grass reaches 4”-5” you can now mow your new lawn
-Make sure not to cut the new grass any lower than 3” in height
-You should continue with your regular lawn maintenance as usual (fertilizing, aerating, dethatching, overseeding, etc).
You may need to roll your new lawn in the Fall (if installed in the Spring) or in the spring (if installed in the Fall). It will help with small uneven areas from settling or grading.
